IEC60870-5-104 Server to PROFIBUS DPV0 Slave Gateway

5205-104S-PDPS (104S Version 3 with Extended Edition 2 Support) 5205-TS-104S-PDPS (104S Version 2 with Original Edition 2 Support and Time-Stamping Support)

Product Description

The IEC 60870-5-104 Server to PROFIBUS DP Slave Gateway creates a powerful connection between devices on an IEC 104 network and PROFIBUS DP Master devices. This stand-alone DIN-rail mounted gateway provides one PROFIBUS DPV0 Slave DB9F port and one IEC 104 Server Ethernet port. The IEC 104S gateway accepts and responds to commands from a network-connected IEC 104 Client (Master) and can also autonomously generate unsolicited messages for cyclic or event-driven data transmission. Firmware versions 3.00 and later support a wider range of IEC 60870-5-104 Edition 2 data types and Causes of Transmission than previously offered. The PROFIBUS DP Slave protocol (PDPS) supports the PROFIBUS DP Version 0 implementation, providing powerful data transfer capability between the ProLinx gateway and a PROFIBUS DP Master. With relatively few options to adjust, the PROFIBUS DP Slave configuration is quick, simple, and easily accomplished using the provided ProSoft Configuration Builder software.

Functional Specifications

Internal Database

The ProLinx module contains an internal database that consists of areas for application data, status information, and configuration information.

The internal database is shared between all ports on the module and is used as a conduit to pass information from a device on one network to one or more devices on another network.

Application Data Area

The data area is used to store and retrieve data by the protocol drivers and for data exchange between protocols. The database is used as a source for write commands to remote devices and holds data collected from the remote devices. Commands defined in the configuration file (stored in the configuration data area) control how the data is to be handled in the database.

Status Data Area

This area is used to store error codes, counters, and port status information for each port.

Configuration File

This file contains module configuration information such as port configuration, network information, and command configuration. This configuration file is downloaded to, or uploaded from, the module.

IEC 60870-5-104 Server Protocol Specifications

Operating in the Server mode, the protocol driver accepts commands from an IEC 60870-5-104 to read/write data stored in the gateway's internal registers.
The 104S acts as a gateway between the IEC 60870-5-104 Ethernet network and many of the other serial and network protocols, as well as several proprietary interfaces.
General specifications include:

  • User-definable module memory usage
  • Protocol implementation conforms to the IEC 60870-5-104 specification with fully configurable parameters

The 104S gateway accepts commands from an attached master unit on the network and generates unsolicited messages. These last sets of messages are either spontaneous or cyclic. Data transferred to the host is derived from the module's internal database. The remote master device can control data in the database and hence the devices connected using the other protocol in the module using standard control messages supported in the protocol. The remote master device uses the fully-configured databases in the module to control outputs and monitor inputs.

PROFIBUS DP Slave Specifications

The PROFIBUS DP Slave driver gives access to the ProLinx unit's internal database via 200 bytes of Input data and 200 bytes of Output data. These Input and Output data blocks are mapped by the user within the ProLinx module's data memory allowing the user maximum flexibility and data transfer with other protocols.
