EtherNet/IP to Garvens Remote Control Hi-Speed Checkweigher
5201-DFNT-GRCM 5202-DFNT-GRCM4
Product Description
The ProLinx EtherNet/IP to Garvens Remote Control Hi-Speed Checkweigher Gateways create a powerful connection between devices on an EtherNet/IP network and Garvens high speed checkweighers. The module provides a single Ethernet port and up to four configurable serial ports.
Product Applications
The EtherNet/IP protocol is one of the primary connectivity tools to the different Rockwell Automation platforms. The Explicit Messaging aspect of the protocol (only) has been implemented in the ProLinx units to provide the data transfer link between the ProLinx units and the Rockwell Automation hardware. (Implicit Messaging (I/O communications) is not supported).
The GRCM driver permits the gateway to interface checkweighers using Garvens Remote Control (GARECO) serial protocol to Rockwell Automation EtherNet/IP devices over Ethernet. The 5201 has one GARECO serial port and the 5202 has four GARECO serial ports to provide communication access for one GARECO serial device per port.

Functional Specifications
Internal Database
The ProLinx module contains an internal database that consists of areas for application data, status information, and configuration information.
The internal database is shared between all ports on the module and is used as a conduit to pass information from a device on one network to one or more devices on another network.
Application Data Area
The data area is used to store and retrieve data by the protocol drivers and for data exchange between protocols. The database is used as a source for write commands to remote devices and holds data collected from the remote devices. Commands defined in the configuration file (stored in the configuration data area) control how the data is to be handled in the database.
Status Data Area
This area is used to store error codes, counters, and port status information for each port.
Configuration File
This file contains module configuration information such as port configuration, network information, and command configuration. This configuration file is downloaded to, or uploaded from, the module.

The GRCM driver permits the module to interface Garven Checkweighers using Remote Control Instruction to the many protocols and networks available. The driver supports one to four ports that provide accessibility from one to four independent serial networks.
The module can operate in two different modes with each port acting independently. The configuration of each port's driver determines its mode.
A port on the module configured to function in receive mode is set up to receive multiple response data from a command to a GRC device.
A port configured in configuration mode can send and receive configuration data from a GRC device according to the command issued.
